About Us

The English Speaking Playgroup (ESP) is situated in the Breitenrain quarter of Berne, the capital city of Switzerland.

Founded in 1985, the ESP is a non-profit, cooperative association run by a committee of parents and staff. It aims to provide a happy, stimulating and positive learning environment to develop children's English language skills.

The ESP caters primarily for children from 3 to 16 years but also provides a limited offering to adults wishing to improve their English.

Some Words of Praise

From the Ruefenacht family: «I would like to take this opportunity to express again what a wonderful job the English Speaking Playgroup is doing.»

From the Kjelsen family, after moving from Switzerland to Ireland: «Our children are perfectly well integrated in the local school and community and simply continued where they left off in Switzerland, albeit all in English. They even have the best grades in English in their school. So please pass on a big thank you from us to the excellent teachers at the ESP.»

From the Reding family, before moving to Singapore: «I would like to thank you very much. Our son was very motivated to attend your courses and it will help him a lot to integrate to the new life in Singapore.»
